The Keukenhof--One Million Flowers, One Million People!

We just spent the last four days in the Netherlands.  We went down to see the tulip and daffodil fields.  Unfortunately, most of the daffodils were "done".  It was still amazing to see all the flower fields, I am used to seeing hay, grain or corn fields but it was a bit odd to see entire fields of flowers.

We also went to the famous Keukenhof.  Unfortunately, I think we went on the busiest day of the year!  It was also the day of the big flower parade in that area.  I have never in my life seen so many tour busses--never!  And, I don't think I've ever been to a place that was so crowded, either.  Luckily, surprisingly, although it was terribly crowded, the weather was beautiful the day we were at the Keukenhof and everyone was in a good mood--everyone meaning us and all the people all around us.

I will post pictures soon...

Until later,

Emily

And...He's Back!

James is back from another TDY.  This time he went to Hungary...and he came back hungry because they like to eat really gross, grizzly meat but he said at least they make pretty good desserts!

Just Call Him "Dable"

I took notice today at what Toby calls Thomas.  Toby calls him "Dable", I asked him several times to be sure and that's his name according to Toby.

First Soccer Game 2009

Thomas played his first soccer game of the season tonight. His team, the Green Dragons, won 5-0. He's on an older team this year but was still in there kicking and running the whole time. We got rained on at the end. He plays until mid-June.

When I arrived at the game, I had a couple friends say something along the lines that I didn't look too happy to be there.  Well, it was my second trip to this area that day (which is a 30-minute drive from my house), and it is a major battle to get out of the house on time with all the gear that has to go on Thomas, and I wasn't too happy about the impending rain either...but at the end of the day, this is why I endure this thing called soccer.  Look at that face!

(For about the one millionth time, Toby was telling me, "I yawnt to go on the side! (slide)"

Until later,

Emily

PS: I was going to get him different socks but then I realized these bright yellow ones made it really easy to pick him out on the soccer field, so the yellow socks are staying!
